Interview: Gaia

Gaia is a new progressive metalcore project hailing from India, and founded by multi-instrumentalist Abhiruk Patowary. Debut album "Aerial" is set for the September 20th release, and Abhiruk told us about it in the interview below.
Alright, first thing is first. Before we dive into all the music stuff, how's life?
Life's going pretty good, going to start the final year of high school and just writing music.
Speaking of new music, you have an album coming out soon. What can people expect from “Aerial”?
Aerial is basically my entire writing journey summed up in 10 tracks . It has riffs I've written 2 years ago to riffs I've written last month. It is mainly a modern metal, metalcore, djent album.
What was it like working on the album?
Working on an album has been my dream. And to see the shaping of a riff to listening to the final master is the best feeling in the world.

Are there any touring plans in support to “Aerial”?
I'm currently planning to do an India tour. And to be honest I'll go anywhere at the moment for a tour since I'm really excited to play the material live.
While we are on the subject of touring, what countries would you love to tour?
I always wanted to go on a tour in Germany and Russia.
Who and what inspires you the most?
Everything I hear has been my influence in writing. Starting from underground bands to the pioneers of metal. But in particular modern metal bands like, Killswitch Engage, Lamb of God, Periphery, TesseracT, Skyharbor, August Burns Red have been one of my primary influences.
What other genres of music do you listen to? Have any of the other genres you listen to had any impact on your playing?
I listened to a huge array of genres. From Western and Indian classical to post rock to extreme death metal, I listen to all. Post rock music has been a very big influence in my playing.
I really appreciate you giving us your time today. Is there anything else you would like to tell us and the fans before we wrap things up?

I'd just like to say is go listen to Gaia and support your local and the overall metal scene. Thank you.
