Interview: Zombie Strippers From Hell

Polish hardcore punk / metal duo Zombie Strippers From Hell launched their debut album "Tales from the Other Side" back in December. Dr. Satan and Mark Twain were joined by Decapitated drummer Michal Lysejko, who contributed all drum parts for the album.
Dr. Satan spoke for Metal Horizons about how the band name came to be, songwriting, and more.
What made you go for the name Zombie Strippers from Hell?
Heh we like some b-rated classic horror “Zombie Strippers” (more we liked Jenna 😉) and our previous drummer Dharo was from hell so…it just happen.
How do you usually describe your music?
Mixed with metal riffs, strong melodies and haunted vocals and everything with addition of H.P. Lovecraft’s work.
What is your writing process like?
Usually Mark is working on riffs and when he got base structure of new song he sends to me (DrS) to create some melodies and lyrics. Then we’re preparing some demo at my house in DeepOne Studio. Then we’re moving to next idea.
Who or what is your inspiration, if you have any?
H.P. Lovecraft and B-Rated Horror Movies from 80/90. We listen every kind of metal music with good melodies and heavy riffs. But Mark and I got very different musical inspirations and I think You can see this (or hear) in our music.

What is your favourite piece on the debut album “Tales from the Other Side” and why?
Opening Dracula is the most heavy tune we’ve ever made and it shows our style to mixing up everything – there is heavy riff, strong vocals, some recitation and growls…yeah I like this a lot.
What makes “Tales from the Other Side” different?
Every song has it own story and every riff is different. There is a lot of classic metal or even punk’s ideas. But this is how we think musically and what we like.
What should music lovers expect from “Tales from the Other Side”?
Don’t expect anything just listen to the music – You can find many interesting tunes and sounds and maybe something will haunts You 😊
What kind of emotions would you like your audience to feel when they listen to your music?
Its like watching your favorite horror movie: sometimes you feel scared but you like this feeling and You’re watching again and again. That’s the feeling. Creepy kind of joy 😊
Which do you like most, life in the studio or on tour?
We didn’t toured with ZSfH a lot so we don’t have any comparison. But from my perspective life in studio is much better – everything is on schedule and I have time to manage my voice proper. During live concerts everything is messed up – especially my voice cause I am allergic and I need to be careful with everything during tour.
Pick your three favourite albums that you would take on a desert island with you.
From my perspective there will be:
Danzig “4”
Type O’Negative “Bloody Kisses”
Killswitch Engage “the End of a Heartache”
