<p style="background-color: white; color: #1a1a1a; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px; min-height: 16px;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">The recording contains strong blasting riffs, which are otherwise inherently catchy and actually suit the vocalist incredibly well. They are bludgeoning when paired with vicious vocals. The singer simply has such an intense level of passion and energy, like he pours his heart and soul into the music. The best example of this can be heard throughout the EP, but as highlights I would mentioned the opening “Delusional Waters,” “Suicide Forest,” and “Lockdown.”</span></p>
<p style="background-color: white; color: #1a1a1a; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px; min-height: 16px;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></p>
<p style="background-color: white; color: #1a1a1a; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">The masterful use of the heavy verse/melodic chorus style of songwriting makes this release incredibly varied. “Tragic Demise” is all about balance of heaviness and melody. The instrumentation on the album is brought to perfection, and although the band’s technical skills are easy to notice, Aicha and Labrousse work in favor of displaying a balance between masterful craftsmanship and performance. </span></p>
<p style="background-color: white; color: #1a1a1a; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px; min-height: 16px;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></p>
<p style="background-color: white; color: #1a1a1a; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">“Tragic Demise” is one of those releases that is just as good the first time you listen to it as it is the fiftieth. It's one of those rare cases where it never gets old, yet it doesn't take any time to grow on you. Whether you're a seasoned metal listener or someone who is just discovering heavy music, this album will appeal to you in some way or another. It's incredibly technical and precise in its execution, yet it allows enough melody in to keep it from sounding like a typical instrumental wank fest.</span></p><p style="background-color: white; color: #1a1a1a; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></p><p style="background-color: white; color: #1a1a1a; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">The EP is available from <a href="https://falsegharial.bandcamp.com" target="_blank">Bandcamp</a>.</span></p>Anahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05944796986229632269noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9206208066748308282.post-78184033879801780092020-05-12T15:45:00.001-04:002020-05-12T15:47:41.425-04:00Smoulder Offers you a Quest of Dreams<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
For anyone who says never judge a book by its cover, why not? Even though 'S<i>moulder</i>' puts out some of the heaviest doom I have heard in a while, their album art blows me away even more. It immediately had me thinking of <i>Frank Frazetta</i> and those oldschool fantasy worlds. Turns out its an artist by the name of <i>Michael Whelan</i>, so thank you<i> Smoulder</i> for introducing me to an epic artist.<br />
<br />
Ok... back to the music.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<i>Smoulder</i> play a triumphant hybrid of epic power doom and traditional metal in the tradition of <i>Tales of Medusa, Gates of Slumber,</i> and<i> Solitude Aeternus.</i> Fantastical heroes yielding mystic swords and arcane sorcery await. This is DnD in music form and don't let anyone tell you that's a bad thing.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<i>Dream Quest Ends</i> is the first EP released by epic doom band<i> Smoulder</i>. It follows on the heels of their debut '<i>Times of Obscene Evil & Wild Daring</i>'. '<i>Dream Quest Ends'</i> is on Side A and features two new tracks & a loving tribute to Manilla Road in "<i>Dream Quest Ends</i>". Side B is a repress of "The Sword Woman" demo from 2018 and includes "The Queen is Gone" on vinyl for the first time.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This is my first taste of <i>Smoulder</i> and I want more so I'm going to head over and check out their full length while you guys can sample this tasty fantasy morsel!</div>

Bewitched by the spells of the ancients as Paul Chain, Death SS and Pentagram, Witchy creates the sound for your foggy graveyard wanderings.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>

This is great, as someone who also drank the cauldron brew I gotta say you can do no wrong with occult rock. The psychedelic tinge, the slow doom riffs, the maniacal cackle. I love it! Can't wait for a full length from these guys, until then pour yourself a cup and give 'Witchy' a listen.<br />

<br />
'Veil of Imagination' brings us 8 tracks of epic and melodic folk death. If your a fan of Amorphis or Opeth then you should already have this album in your rotation. With beautiful piano medleys, spoken word poetry and deep death growls Wilderun leaves nothing to your imagination.<br />
<br />
Stand out track for me is 'Sleeping Ambassadors of the Sun' this track could easily be part of a theatrical display or musical, it just builds up such ambiance and atmosphere. Truly brilliant.<br />

This is pure NWOBHM worship, think Maiden, think Priest, Tim the "Ripper" Owens actually features on two of the tracks! This project is the lovechild of Shane Embury of<i> Napalm Death</i> & Producer Simon Efemey (<i>Paradise Lost </i>- <i>The Wildhearts</i> - <i>Amorphous</i>) and Produced by Russ Russell (<i>Napalm Death</i> - <i>At the gates</i> - <i>Dimmu Borigir</i>) so you know damn well that these guys are going to put out nothing but sheer greatness.<br />
<br />
I wasn't even alive in the 80's but that era of heavy metal has always found a warm place in my heart, this album crawls right on in without hesitation. The stand out track for me has to be 'Raging Pursuer' which has Tim "Ripper" Owens lending his vocals. Check it out below!<br />

<i><br /></i>
<i>Sojourner</i> is a multi-national folk-influenced atmospheric metal band from Dunedin, New Zealand; Malmö, Sweden; Bergamo, Italy; and Dundee, Scotland. They effortlessly fuse melodic folk with blackened aggression. The opposing vocals of Emilio Crespo and Chloe Bray paired with the haunting melodies really create something beautiful. <i>Sojourner</i> knows when to hit it hard and when to slow it down, bringing the listener on a brilliant journey.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>

Stand out tracks '<i>Talas</i>' and '<i>the Apocalyptic Theater</i>' are a must listen!<br />

<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Nothing is more challenging in music than new names in a genre, especially if there are great guitar solos. Alternative rock, just like its title, as a genre always remains thirsty for something new.</span></span></div>

<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Overalps is one of these bands that brings that challenging taste to the scene. Great guitar pieces, female vocals and little passages that are always between alt rock and metal. Their new work “In Your Room" was released in March. Musically, especially with those sudden rhythm changes, prog-specific drums and great guitar work, we are “confronted” with influences by some of the genres greats. The album gets a bit of a gothic vibe courtesy of the vocals.</span></span></div>

<div style="color: #262626; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: center;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><b><br /></b></span></span></div>
<div style="color: #262626; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><b><br /></b></span></span></div>
<div style="color: #262626; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><b>VEDIC</b> is a hard rock/heavy metal band from Philaelphia influenced by variety of different styles. The band has been together for a few years, but in March this year they put out their debut self-titled EP.</span></span></div>
<div style="color: #262626; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 16px;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></span></div>
<div style="color: #262626; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">It could easily be said that <b>VEDIC</b> plays progressive rock with elements of heavy metal/hard rock and extreme take on the prog metal genre, and fans of likes such <b>Death</b>, <b>Mastodon</b>, <b>Opeth</b> and <b>Metallica </b>are apt to find something familiar in their sound. Tracks generally consist of simple dominating metal chord patterns with more complex underlying melodies. Instead of focusing on technical musicianship, each track of <b><i>Vedic</i></b> attempts to evoke a certain mood or feeling – and it does this quite well. Most tracks revolve around a central musical theme, but they manage to repeat themselves without feeling repetitive. Though the music is never too heavy or too relaxed, it still manages to span a wide range of musical styles, with tracks that are equal parts dark, calm, angry and passionate. It is vibrant with emotional quality, and the music is very refined – <b><i>Vedic</i></b> certainly has a high production quality, and the members of <b>VEDIC</b> know how to complement each other well.</span></span></div>
<div style="color: #262626; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 16px;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></span></div>
<div style="color: #262626; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">That is, in fact, <b><i>Vedic</i></b>’s greatest strength. The music and the vocals suit each other very well, and combine to create the emotional experience that is the album’s best quality. </span></span></div>
<div style="color: #262626; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 16px;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></span></div>
<br />
<div style="color: #262626; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Ultimately, this EP is very well made for what it is. While those who prefer more complex melodies won’t find it enthralling, it is clear that <b>VEDIC</b>’s members are quite talented, and the simple nature of the music is more of a stylistic choice than an indicator of poor musicianship. <b><i>Vedic</i></b> left quite a good impression on me. It is subdued but expressive, with little technicality but a lot of feeling.</span></span></div>
<div style="color: #262626; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span></div>

<div style="background-color: white; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 15px;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Weightless yet absolutely colossal, Jyväskylä, Finland's death/doom metal project Infirmum seem to exist in a paradox. Their music eloquently drifts through heavy darkness while simultaneously bleeding airy light everywhere.</span></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 15px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Released on February 28 via Inverse Records, <b>Walls of Sorrow</b> is a heavy and evocative offering, expanding on both the beauty and sonic execution mastered on 2018’s debut EP, with their monumental compositions cocooned within an immaculate production that brings out every facet of their massive sound.</span></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 15px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">A gallant balance between rich textures and sorrowful melodies has been struck to brew an impeccable storm, as the atmospheric “Silence” gives way to the raging “Doomed,” before finding solace in “Sail Away.</span></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 15px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">It is a perilous yet undeniably blissful voyage through the vast oceans of doom, masterfully steered by a band absolutely owning their craft.</span></span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit; text-align: justify;"><br /></span></div>
<span style="font-family: inherit; text-align: justify;">Linz, Austria trio Before Us All talked with Metal Horizons about their latest album "Deception" which was released back in September last year.</span><br />
<div style="margin: 0cm 0cm 7.5pt; text-align: justify;">
<b><span lang="EN-US" style="color: black;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span></b></div>
<div style="margin: 0cm 0cm 7.5pt; text-align: justify;">
<b><span lang="EN-US" style="color: black;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Alright, first thing is first. Before we dive into all the music stuff, how's life?</span></span></b></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: white; color: #222222; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; margin: 0cm 0cm 7.5pt; orphans: 2; text-align: justify; text-decoration: none; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="color: black;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Great, thanks! Quiet busy sometimes, always something to do.</span></span></div>
<div style="margin: 0cm 0cm 7.5pt; text-align: justify;">
<b><span lang="EN-US"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Speaking of new music, you have an album. What can people expect from “Deception”?</span></span></b></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: white; color: #222222; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; margin: 0cm 0cm 7.5pt; orphans: 2; text-align: justify; text-decoration: none; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px;">
<span lang="EN-US"><span style="font-family: inherit;">This time we followed a harder way of music since we decided to not do any clean vocals and we focused on heavy guitar riffs along with blasting drums, a growling bass topped with melodic leads here and then.</span></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: white; color: #222222; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; margin: 0cm 0cm 7.5pt; orphans: 2; text-align: justify; text-decoration: none; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px;">
<span lang="EN-US"><span style="font-family: inherit;">If you like Lamb of God, Devildriver, Machine Head, etc you will also like our album Deception. These bands had an high influence on this one but we also created our own style which you will recognize.</span></span></div>
<div style="margin: 0cm 0cm 7.5pt; text-align: justify;">
<b><span lang="EN-US" style="color: black;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">What was it like working on the album?</span></span></b></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: white; color: #222222; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; margin: 0cm 0cm 7.5pt; orphans: 2; text-align: justify; text-decoration: none; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="color: black;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">It was a long and hard road to finish this album, we had a couple of lineup changes the past years so we ended up to write, record and produce “Deception” as 3 but we are highly satisfied with the outcome.</span></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: white; color: #222222; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; margin: 0cm 0cm 7.5pt; orphans: 2; text-align: justify; text-decoration: none; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span lang="EN-US">The biggest aspect of working on the album was to do no tradeoffs, if we didn’t like a part of a song or even a complete song, we reworked it until everybody was happy or it didn’t make it on the album.</span></span></div>
<div style="margin: 0cm 0cm 7.5pt; text-align: justify;">
<b><span lang="EN-US" style="color: black;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Are there any touring plans in support to “Deception”?</span></span></b></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: white; color: #222222; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; margin: 0cm 0cm 7.5pt; orphans: 2; text-align: justify; text-decoration: none; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="color: black;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Yes, we have some dates in Austria and Germany which we will announce soon, so like us on Facebook and stay tuned.</span></span></div>
<div style="margin: 0cm 0cm 7.5pt; text-align: justify;">
<b><span lang="EN-US" style="color: black;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">While we are on the subject of touring, what countries would you love to tour?</span></span></b></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: white; color: #222222; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; margin: 0cm 0cm 7.5pt; orphans: 2; text-align: justify; text-decoration: none; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="color: black;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">We had amazing times in Czech Republic in the past and we will definitely go back there but there are still so many countries we’d like to visit.</span></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: white; color: #222222; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; margin: 0cm 0cm 7.5pt; orphans: 2; text-align: justify; text-decoration: none; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="color: black;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">A big dream would be of course the United States of America.</span></span></div>

<b><span lang="EN-US" style="color: black;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Who and what inspires you the most?</span></span></b></div>

<span lang="EN-US" style="color: black;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">As already mentioned we have big influences from Lamb of God and we do listen to them a lot. Mostly we are inspired by listening to music from different bands and genres.</span></span></div>
<div style="margin: 0cm 0cm 7.5pt; text-align: justify;">
<b><span lang="EN-US" style="color: black;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">What other genres of music do you listen to? Have any of the other genres you listen to had any impact on your playing?</span></span></b></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: white; color: #222222; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; margin: 0cm 0cm 7.5pt; orphans: 2; text-align: justify; text-decoration: none; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="color: black;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Inside the metal genre we have quit a wide pool of genres we are listening to since every band member likes some bands which the others don’t like.</span></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: white; color: #222222; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; margin: 0cm 0cm 7.5pt; orphans: 2; text-align: justify; text-decoration: none; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="color: black;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Besides metal there are also many great genres like rock and blues which you will also hear through our headphones from time to time.</span></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: white; color: #222222; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; margin: 0cm 0cm 7.5pt; orphans: 2; text-align: justify; text-decoration: none; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="color: black;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">If there is any impact on our playing is really hard to tell since more and more genres are mixing up and you can’t really tell what influences you hear there.</span></span></div>

<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span class="im" style="background-color: white; font-variant-ligatures: normal; orphans: 2; widows: 2;">Mexican metallers AZTLAN released their debut album entitled 'Mexico Inmortal' back in November 2019. They spoke for Metal Horizons about the release, touring, and more.</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span class="im" style="background-color: white; font-variant-ligatures: normal; orphans: 2; widows: 2;"><b><br /></b></span></span>
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span class="im" style="background-color: white; font-variant-ligatures: normal; orphans: 2; widows: 2;"><b>Alright, first thing is first. Before we dive into all the music stuff, how's life?</b></span><span style="background-color: white; font-variant-ligatures: normal; orphans: 2; widows: 2;">Quite calm, between work and music. We dedicate part of our lives to music since we are very passionate about this art.</span><span class="im" style="background-color: white; font-variant-ligatures: normal; orphans: 2; widows: 2;"><br /><br /><b>Speaking of new music, you have an album. What can people expect from “Mexico Inmortal”?</b></span><span style="background-color: white; font-variant-ligatures: normal; orphans: 2; widows: 2;">A wide range of traditional Mexican sounds, from ancestral music to folk music such as "Son Jarocho" and "Mariachi" mixed with Metal music. It is a sound tour of ancient and current Mexico.</span><span class="im" style="background-color: white; font-variant-ligatures: normal; orphans: 2; widows: 2;"><br /><br /><b>What was it like working on the album?</b></span><span style="background-color: white; font-variant-ligatures: normal; orphans: 2; widows: 2;">It was quite gratifying, since in the course of the composition and recording we discovered many sounds and musical genres, and the satisfaction of mixing them with the sound of Metal was the engine to continue doing what we like so much.</span><span class="im" style="background-color: white; font-variant-ligatures: normal; orphans: 2; widows: 2;"><br /><br /><b>Are there any touring plans in support to “Mexico Inmortal”?</b></span><span style="background-color: white; font-variant-ligatures: normal; orphans: 2; widows: 2;">We are preparing our tour in Mexico, and we also hope to tour in other countries.</span><span class="im" style="background-color: white; font-variant-ligatures: normal; orphans: 2; widows: 2;"><br /><br /><b>While we are on the subject of touring, what countries would you love to tour?</b></span><span style="background-color: white; font-variant-ligatures: normal; orphans: 2; widows: 2;">Our desire is to take our music to every corner of the world, no matter what country it is.</span></span><br />

<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Sacramento-based progressive metal project <b>Lunar</b>, founded by drummer and songwriter <b>Alex Bosson</b>, are launching a new lyric video. The video designed by <b>Scott Rudd</b> is for the song “Surrender,” taken from the latest album “Eidolon” out now via Divebomb Records.</span></span></div>

<div style="background-color: white; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><b>Bosson</b> commented: “<i>‘Surrender’ is the final single from the latest album ‘Eidolon.’ This is probably the heaviest track that we have ever done. Definitely one for the fans of the death metal side of </i><b><i>Lunar</i></b><i>. This lyric video was, once again, done by the amazing </i><b><i>Scott Rudd </i></b><i>(who has done videos for </i><b><i>Opeth</i></b><i>, </i><b><i>Fallujah</i></b><i>, </i><b><i>Rings of Saturn</i></b><i>, amongst many others). We hope you all enjoy it!</i>”</span></span></div>

<div style="background-color: white; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Talking previously about <i>Eidolon</i>, <b>Bosson</b> stated: “<i>This album was a struggle to do, in so many ways, but mostly with persevering after the death of my bandmate and good friend </i><b><i>Ryan Erwin</i></b><i>. But I think he would be proud of where this has gone. I am proud of what I have come up with for this album and what all the other musicians involved have contributed. There is a long list of incredible guest musicians on this album that I never dreamed I would get to work with and I’m truly honored to have done so! In my opinion, this album is heavier and tighter than the 2017’s ‘</i><b><i>Theogony</i></b><i>’ and I hope the fans will like it as much as I do.</i>”</span></span></div>

<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Speaking about the concept and the background story that informed the song, the band stated: “<i>‘Annihilate Tomorrow’ is about the recruitment of our young generation to the Army under false pretenses, a promise of service and patriotism but the reality of fighting wars for corporate profit and greed. In the video, our young soldier is recruited by the US Army and ends up in a senseless war for no apparent reason. Trapped under gun fire, our protagonist cracks under the pressure and the horrors of war, thinking about his loved ones left back home, he goes on a rampage and ends up committing acts that violate his personal sense of moral and ethic, coming back a broken man, while the “government” (illustrated by the young kid) plays with their army as if they were meaningless toys.</i>”</span></span></div>

<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: center;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Perhaps many of you have noticed the overwhelming swarm of hardcore/metalcore acts flooding the scene right now. It's becoming increasingly ridiculous, as almost all of them sound identical and bring nothing original to the table. They are meshing together and making the genre the most generic and bland of them all. This is why I never even consider reviewing an album of that sort, and why I tend to shun away any band most of my "hardcore" friends throw at me. It's not that I hate the genre, it's just I think everyone should stop trying to imitate and come up with something unique. Few bands manage to do such a thing. If you're going to be part of this genre and not bring anything too new to the table, you damn well be good at what you are doing. So <b>Before Us All </b>comes into my grasp, the brutality bashing me in the skull rather un-relentlessly… and I am hooked. A breath of fresh air? Not exactly. An enjoyable listen? You betcha.</span></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 17px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><b>Before Us All</b> is a metalcore trio from Linz, Austria. Their new album is called <i>Deception</i>, and it is quite the thrill of a ride. This album comes out blazing with 11 songs, ranging from melodic to super heavy pieces.</span></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 17px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">I will not go much further in terms of track by track, because those don't do an album justice. I will just give you the overall feel and sound of the album. It is typical metalcore with a huge chunk of thrash metal thrown into the mix, and while many will gripe that it is not exactly anything special, the fail to look into the other aspects of the music.</span></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 17px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></span></div>
<br />
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">For what it is, this album stands its ground in a watered down scene that is quickly losing its luster. Just rising above the hordes of local metalcore bands that are everywhere and making yourself something alone makes <b>Before Us All</b> unique. I think this band has the potential to rise to a rather prominent force in the scene. Only time will tell.</span></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span></div>

<div style="background-color: white; color: #1a1a1a; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Hailing from Las Vegas, Ijolite is an instrumental post-metal band by multi-instrumentalist, producer and songwriter Dustin Rudy. “Post Mortem of a Life” is his second album with the project, and in Rudy’s own words the release is “<i>a balance between dynamics and pace mixing in versions of these genres to make a cohesive album experience from start to finish.</i>” </span></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #1a1a1a; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 16px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #1a1a1a; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Taking heavy influence from Neurosis, Alcest, Les Discrets, Ijolite orchestrates around slight layerings romantically waving back and forth between earthmoving urgency and aromatic lulls, enshrouding the instrumentation with flourishes of guitar noodling, electronic textures, and synths behind gloomy sludge riffs and thunderous drumming. The record consists of plenty of colossal riffs through and through.</span></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #1a1a1a; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span></div>

<br /></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #1a1a1a; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">The music of “Post Mortem of a Life,” when it isn't beautiful and melodic is nearly always punishing, feeling like it is crushing the listener’s skull. While the listener wants to beg Ijolite to stop, they just can't help but keep listening. But are the songs any good? The answer is yes, they are incredible. While there aren't many happy moments, there are many, many soft and beautiful moments. </span></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #1a1a1a; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 16px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></span></div>
<br />
<div style="background-color: white; color: #1a1a1a; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Songs like “The Crowning" and "Egress" show the softer side of the project, while still being heavier than a band like Slayer. There really is not a single bad moment on the album and while it is no suited to the non patient listener, it just cannot be faulted. All of the songs are pretty much equal in greatness and they are all very, very great. Fans of bands like Isis, Neurosis, Pelican and Mare are advised to rush out and buy this album straight away. Anyone interested in heavy music or even ambient music must own this album, period. Just don't expect it to make you smile. Grab the album from <a href="https://ijolite.bandcamp.com/" target="_blank">Bandcamp</a>.</span></span></div>

<div style="background-color: white; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: center;">

<div style="background-color: white; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Intensity is what Piacenza, Italy-based <a href="https://descentintomaelstrom.bandcamp.com/releases" target="_blank">Descent Into Maelstrom</a> bring, an extreme version of atmospheric and post black/death metal. The quartet explore decadence and dissonance on their new album <i>Iconoclasm</i> which was released on October 28, 2019.</span></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 14px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">The eight tracks that make up Iconoclams are a mixture of excessive extreme heaviness and sinister atmosphere. From the moment “The Misanthrope” kicks things off to the moment “The Portal of the Elsewhere” ends things, <i>Iconoclasm</i> is 40 minutes of twisted and complex rhythm, savage riffing and gratifyingly dark ambience.</span></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 14px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">It flies by in a blur of noise that comes so thick and fast that taking it all in on first listen is near impossible. Descent Into Maelstrom have structured their music with rhythm in mind and with just a splash of groove. Unlike many other bands in this genre Descent Into Maelstrom are way more focused on the ‘metal’ side of things. The ambient sounds and effects can often disappear into the crushing assault of heaviness.</span></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 14px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Hardly a problem though as this is an album that delivers such a fantastic vortex of intense riffs, clever twists and exciting builds. The perfect length, <i>Iconoclasm</i> will take a couple of listens to fully appreciate but it’s well worth it!</span></span></div>

<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: center;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Belgium’s Hybridism play a brand of djent/progressive metal, combining ambient elements and delicately played clean layers over top of the stuttering and stabbing rhythms set in place by <b>Meshuggah</b> and<b> SikTh</b>. The difference is, the music on their debut self-titled EP feels much more lush and organic, setting themselves apart from the very mechanical sounding contemporaries who follow a similar formula. While the melodic djent thing isn’t new, Hybridism manage to sound unique and fresh, thanks to the atmospheres and singing.</span></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 12px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">The guitar work is split between the dry and low polyrhythmic chugs and clean and melodic layering for ambiance. These two styles fit together in perfect harmony and create some wonderful soundscapes and textures. The bass is also very present in the mix, which is an added touch of brilliance. You can hear it slapping and popping along throughout the EP, even taking a few moments here and there to be the focal point of the music from time to time. Oh, and the drumming is actually real, which is a nice change of pace for a genre that likes to program everything or play it through an electronic kit. This is one of the contributing factors for the EP not sounding like an overproduced machine.</span></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6V2P3gf3u8LNgzuZu910eHQjQm6jjDf0GxJVfK44ol_JXwC22gPs-xXwJjtqUFUnCGPl5pmeVgG8fFIo7DpGUDwjFDGglXX0WffjQO2eC0aNWaxbKLrHJhlyKf4XLxo0SuKn19ZMP9QU/s1600/Hybridism-Hybridism.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6V2P3gf3u8LNgzuZu910eHQjQm6jjDf0GxJVfK44ol_JXwC22gPs-xXwJjtqUFUnCGPl5pmeVgG8fFIo7DpGUDwjFDGglXX0WffjQO2eC0aNWaxbKLrHJhlyKf4XLxo0SuKn19ZMP9QU/s1600/Hybridism-Hybridism.jpg" /></a></div>

<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 12px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">As for the musical composition, “Hybridism” does feel like one song and flows through tracks logically when things take a change in pace or theme. The band can definitely demand the attention of the listener without having to drop a solo every few minutes. These guys know what they’re doing.</span></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 12px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">With the release of “Hybridism,” Hybridism are moving out of the periphery (no pun intended) and into focus. If they can come up with this great music in the course of a half-an-hour EP, we are in for a treat when their debut full-length is out. Check it out <a href="https://hybridism.bandcamp.com/releases" target="_blank">here</a>.</span></span></div>

<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Progressive death metal is often a risky venture. Some progressive death metal bands just get it right, and craft simply beautiful, thought-provoking music that harnesses both aggression and emotion, while some sound a little too self-indulgent, and just seem to miss the point. Fortunately, <i>Daddy Plague</i>, the full-length debut album from German project Monolith by guitarist and songwriter Mario Welke, has its boots firmly planted in the former.</span></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 12px; text-align: justify;">

<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">The first three tracks, the title track, “Spit,” and “The Titan and the Rat” are best listened to together. They feel like a sonata, taking you on a journey made of punishing death metal to all out shred and back again. </span></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 12px; text-align: justify;">

<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">If what you seek is something intelligent and brutal at the same time, <i>Daddy Plague </i>absolutely is for you.</span></span></div>

<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 7.5px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 7.5px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Belgian djent quartet Hybridism released their self-titled debut EP in February. They speak for Metal Horizons about it, inspiration, and more. Read below.</span></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 7.5px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><b>Alright, first thing is first. Before we dive into all the music stuff, how's life?</b></span></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 7.5px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Fine! We can’t complain. We want to thank you very much for having us. We feel appreciated.</span></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 7.5px; min-height: 14px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><b>Speaking of music, you have an album. What can people expect from “Hybridism”?</b></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 7.5px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Well, people can expect a very ambient album with a lot of ups and downs. We are an instrumental djent and prog band so there’s a mixture of heavy riffs all in the name of „DJENT“ such as calm moments packed with beautiful melodies. The songs were actually written for people who like this particular style and heavy music, but also for those who are not so familiar with heavy music. This is why there are heavy and more soften moments on this record. As we are all instrumental we are trying to reach people with a large variety of melodies and samples to replace the vocals in some kind of way.</span></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 7.5px; min-height: 14px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><b>What was it like working on the record?</b></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 7.5px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">It was quite a challenge for a few of us who never played „DJENT“ before. Obviously we were all listening to djent bands at the time, so we liked the unique sound and it’s challenging approach. We all played in rock and metal bands before, but for us all, this was the first djent project we were involved. Jeffrey, who wanted to start as a one-man project, had already written a whole bunch of songs. As we developed them later as a band, everybody was free to bring some ideas and input, so we all felt very satisfied pretty fast. The initial idea starting out with a singer was dropped before entering the studio. For the recording sessions we chose Babylon Studios in the Czech Republic. The album was produced by none other than Thomas Raklavsky, owner of the studio and mastermind behind the very well known djent band „Modern Day Babylon“. Coming back home with a very satisfying result was an awesome experience for us all.</span></span></div>

<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 7.5px; min-height: 14px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><b>Are there any touring plans in support to “Hybridism”?</b></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 7.5px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Of course, there are future plans like a few small tours with some bands already established in the scene. It’s not that easy in the beginning, but we are trying to snag some support slots and play as much as we can. Three of us have permanent jobs, but we are all trying our best to manage everything. Touring and bringing your music to an audience is indispensable for a young band like us. But we are lucky enough to have some good contacts and got already some nice offers for a few festivals later next year.</span></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 7.5px; min-height: 14px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><b>While we are on the subject of touring, what countries would you love to tour?</b></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 7.5px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">For the moment our main goal is to spread the name all over our greater region (Belgium, Luxembourg, France and Germany). This is a small step, but it should be achievable. We are pretty confident about that. The next step would be some European countries in the south or behind „the iron curtain“. But playing in more „exotic“ countries we had never been to would be great for sure. Meeting people and their culture would certainly be a really nice experience for us all. Every bands dream is to play great tours in foreign countries far away but coming back to the question and answering very quickly, touring in South America, America, Japan would definitely be the number one destinations. </span></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 7.5px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><b>Who and what inspires you the most?</b></span></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">I would definitely say the beautiful art of music itself. I mean music is the key. We hit the nail on the head by quoting Friedrich Nietzsche: „Without music, life would be a mistake“. We are all stressed with our daily routine and all the shit which is going on out there in the world, wars, media manipulation, greed for profit, social problems, etc. We are not a political band, this is just my personal kind of view. Coming back home to relax then, listening to our favourite tunes makes us nearly forget everything. I mean, why are we listening to music, it certainly means a lot to us and gives us the satisfaction we need in certain moments.</span></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 16px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Another kind of inspiration is certainly the way and the perfection instruments are played by certain musicians in the genre. What one simple person can achieve just using his mind to let it’s inspiration flow is quite impressive. Using the perfect technique therefore pushes us further and motivates us „trying“ to reach them on a similar level.</span></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span></div>

<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><b>What other genres of music do you listen to? Have any of the other genres you listen to had any impact on your playing?</b></span></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 7.5px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">I think we are a very open-minded band. Next to metal music we all listen to any kind of music. We have some heavy gamers in the band which might have a little impact on some of the samples used on the record. Our drummer listens to a lot of Jazz if I’m not mistaken. For the rest I think electronic music and more ambient music will always be a guiding light, creating a certain mood, melodies and the atmosphere of our future compositions.</span></span></div>

<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Yeah of course! The message is quite simple: Just listen to the music. This is who we are. We even want to invite all of you to our website, and our social media pages to get a better idea who we are, what we are doing and where we want to go with our music. For the real hardcore fans and collectors, we have a merch shop on our Bandcamp page with a lot of different goodies. So if you want to support the band just check us out. Thank you very much in advance. Remember Nietzsche ;) Music is the key! Cheers!</span></span></div>

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAhdb03qQoJNYBB-5IDzPiOog44hyDV-M24xTMBz-DeqO4TjZKkss_s0a6fAh09owYLykcWjLSBxOtXLvhd55LZQVTrq-EP7iWEYleYszcJ0M6ZdirsfVyQgQpSvlun4B6VqEdhMVFXP4/s1600/The+Downfall+of+Judith+King.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAhdb03qQoJNYBB-5IDzPiOog44hyDV-M24xTMBz-DeqO4TjZKkss_s0a6fAh09owYLykcWjLSBxOtXLvhd55LZQVTrq-EP7iWEYleYszcJ0M6ZdirsfVyQgQpSvlun4B6VqEdhMVFXP4/s1600/The+Downfall+of+Judith+King.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">From the recommendation of the PR wire who provided this album for listening and reviewing, I decided to listen to this debut album by UK progressive metal act The Spectre Beneath. Their style is heavy, but not in the way of normal tech metal or progressive metal bands. There isn't much in the way of riffing or pretentious, cheesy cliches. The Spectre Beneath are completely different, really, and they are here to win an uphill battle. </span></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 12px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">“The Downfall of Judith King” is an interesting affair that is always interesting and spell-binding. Indeed, I think that is the most impressive aspect here: the music grabs, holds and doesn't let go. The Spectre Beneath build a wonderful wall of sound using ever-expanding vocal work, offbeat drumming with amazing fills, a refreshing bass work and plenty of atmospherics. One of the things you will notice right away is the fact that The Spectre Beneath is very comfortable with odd time signatures.</span></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 12px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></span></div>
<br />
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">The album never really stops, though. “As the Crows Peck at Your Bones" and the title track continue the incredible composition, though I feel that they are slightly more accessible. Track after track full of instrumental fireworks passes by, and the listener is blown away time and again by the fullness of the sound and the ease with which the band establishes an odd groove. This band has a penchant for creating groovy atmospheres that blow right over your head, but then come back and smack you in the spine with their genius.</span></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span></div>

<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Finnish pop metal group Memoremains have just launched a single and a cover of Madonna's song "Sorry." In a new interview for Metal Horizons, they tell us more about it.</span></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><b><span style="font-family: inherit;">Alright, first thing is first. Before we dive into all the music stuff, how's life?</span></b></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Life’s great, thanks for asking! </span></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><b><span style="font-family: inherit;">Speaking of music, you have a new single which is a cover of Madonna’s song “Sorry.” What can people expect from it?</span></b></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Mikko: It is such a great song from The Queen of pop. I´ve been in love it since its release. If you remember this 2006 dance hit, you will now experience it with more rocking groove. You´ll be hearing it faster and with more Memoremains-power in it.</span></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><b><span style="font-family: inherit;">What was it like working on arranging this song?</span></b></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Mikko: The arrangement started from changing the rhythm of the song. The original version has its own steady and pumping rhythm which we wanted to change a little bit more groovy and to make the song sound more like us. However, we wanted to keep the “mood of dancing” that conveys from the original version. We also thought that speeding up the song would suit in our style.</span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><b><span style="font-family: inherit;">Does Memoremains tour often?</span></b></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Johanna: We started touring about a year ago. In addition to gigs in our home country Finland we did our first European tour in spring 2019. </span></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Mikko: It’s awesome to play to different kinds of people in different countries. It’s been a pleasure to meet people on our gigs and talk with them about our music and what kinds of feelings our music evokes in them.</span></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Aleksi: We have still five gigs for the end of the year. In Finland. </span></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><b><span style="font-family: inherit;">While we are on the subject of touring, what countries would you love to tour?</span></b></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Mikko:: There are so many cool countries in the world and we would love to tour in as many different places as possible! It would be awesome to play, for example, in Japan because of their fascinating culture and we believe that there could be demand for our music there. South America feels great also!</span></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><b><span style="font-family: inherit;">Who and what inspires you the most?</span></b></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Johanna: I enjoy following young musicians and bands who are just building their own careers. It’s inspiring to see them develop little by little. It creates faith also in our own career. </span></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Mikko: That’s true. I also enjoy that our music touches people. It’s feels really good and motivating to see people singing along our songs with us. </span></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px; text-align: justify;">

<span style="font-kerning: none;"><b><span style="font-family: inherit;">What other genres of music do you listen to? Have any of the other genres you listen to had any impact on your playing?</span></b></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">We all listen to different types of bands from different genres and that’s maybe the reason why our music style has evolved into something of its own. </span></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Johanna: I listen to all kinds of music but my all time favorites are maybe alternative rock bands Linkin Park and System of a Down. I pay special attention to surprising melodies and touching lyrics, no matter which genre I’m listening.</span></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Mikko: In Nowadays, I don’t define myself as a listener of any particular genre. I find great stuff in many different styles of music and the inspiration helps me to make own music. While listening to Spotify, I can change from Rammstein to Michael Jackson and back without any further analysis.</span></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Aleksi: I don’t think about genres or what I am “allowed” to listen. Mostly I listen more heavier stuff but I can enjoy any kind of music. But yes, I have learned to play with metal music. </span></span></div>
<div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><b><span style="font-family: inherit;">I really appreciate you giving us your time today. Is there anything else you would like to tell us and the fans before we wrap things up?</span></b></span></div>

<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Johanna: We’d be grateful if you would listen to our new song and also check out also our previous material. We would love to hear comments about our music, so don’t hesitate to contact us! Thank you for this interview and hopefully you’ll have a great day! </span></span><br />

<div style="font-family: Lato; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: center;">

<div style="font-family: Lato; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none;"><b><br /></b></span></div>
<div style="font-family: Lato; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none;"><b>Carnage Inc.</b> came flying out of Mumbai in 2012, and it took them about four years to release a debut EP <i>Fury Incarnate</i> in August 2016. Now after three years later, the band returns with a new release <i>Tenebris</i>, which is an amazing effort.</span></div>
<div style="font-family: Lato; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 19px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Lato; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">Bringing only the finest of elements from thrash/speed, prog and death metal, this release is everything you would expect and then some. It is so full of speed, ideas and finger bleeding riffs. It’s hard to be able to decide on any stand out tracks, opening out with “Eradicate the Empire,” “Deathscape” and “Saffron is the New Black” all fitting very much in the thrash metal league. Abuse of speed, aggression and the pedal to the floor attitude all come through from the off, you can’t help but feel pumped up by them!</span></div>
<div style="font-family: Lato; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 19px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Lato; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">“High on Panic” is along a more melodic death metal vibe, which really show boats the talent after the thrashing of the first three tracks (technically four, considering the opening intro). Bringing in some amazing passages with great finesse, and beautifully harmonies of melodic playing but all with a slight heavy metal feel with clashing chords, yet all still very up and at them with intensity.</span></div>
<div style="font-family: Lato; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 19px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Lato; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">The power and dynamic of “Monstrosity" is all in the writing abilities here. As <i>Tenebris</i> plays on, the song epitomizes everything about them and this record, aggression, speed, progressiveness, and an all round raw talent that is everything this genre needs. I honestly wish more bands were like this.</span></div>
<div style="font-family: Lato; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 19px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></div>
<br />
<div style="font-family: Lato; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">As far as dedication to metal music, this band has it in waves, and they are full well in deserving of an equally dedicated fan base. Speaking of which, become a fan and follow them on <a href="https://www.facebook.com/carnageincindia/" target="_blank">Facebook</a> and <a href="https://www.instagram.com/carnageincindia" target="_blank">Instagram</a>.</span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Mumbai, India-based thrash metal quartet <b>CARNAGE INC.</b> are set to launch their new album entitled <b><i>Tenebris</i></b> on September 10th. The group has partnered with <b>Metal Horizons</b> for an exclusive premiere of the "Saffron is the New Black" single. Listen to it below.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Singer and rhythm guitarist <b>Varun Panchal </b>said about the track: "<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222;"><i>'Saffron is the New Black' is an anger-driven track that lashes out at the establishment and society for embracing a "trend" of saffronisation by foolishly seeking "change" through it. The song also is commentary on the atrocities that have marred this trend.</i>"</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="background-color: white; color: #222222;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="background-color: white; color: #222222;">Taken from the album's press release, it is said that <b><i>Tenebris</i></b> is the band's creative take on the 'second Dark Age.' </span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="background-color: white; color: #222222;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="background-color: white; color: #222222;"><b>Panchal</b> commented: "<i>The decline of the Roman Empire was the first—and Tenebris is a Latin word, used by the Romans. The world as we know is already in bad shape and there’s very little we are doing about it. Be it politically, environmentally or even on a personal level. People want to follow trends and be the sheeple more than ever. Although the songs deal with darkness, the underlining tone of the album is that of ‘Lux en Tenebris,’ or light in darkness—a positive cry for going against and getting empowered.</i>"</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="background-color: white; color: #222222;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="background-color: white; color: #222222;">Fans in India can pre-order <i style="font-weight: bold;">Tenebris </i>from <a href="https://www.redwolf.in/carnage" target="_blank">this location</a>.</span></span><br />

<div style="background-color: white; color: #1a1a1a; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Trying to categorise Sydney's Scythia Fate into a neat and tidy genre for the purposes of giving the band a home would do <i>Matrimony in Madness</i>, the band’s debut full-length album, a total disservice. It would also prove to be nigh on the impossible, as this trio incorporates a plethora of musical influences which touch upon various sonic signifiers to create what is ultimately an expansive metal record.</span></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #1a1a1a; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 16px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #1a1a1a; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><i>Matrimony in Madness</i> isn’t welcoming by any stretch of the imagination, as its cross-colonisation of genres would suggest. It doesn’t speak upon first listen, and in order to admire the scope of this record, attentiveness is crucial to the listener’s understanding. Beginning with a below one minute intro “Borisov 1812,” Scythian Fate separate those who enjoy metal for its immediacy from those who are willing to sacrifice their time for a slow-burning, but no less satisfying, reward.</span></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #1a1a1a; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 16px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #1a1a1a; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Sonically, “Crimson Snow” hauls slabs of atmospheric doom across the razor-sharp thrash metal, and does so without jarring the two dominating genres together. “Lady Macbeth” is the longest piece on the album that really pounds you into sumbission. There is also an interesting contrast at play here between the austere atmosphere created by these suffocating songs when compared to the more straightforward “Balkan Ghosts” and “Vitriol.” The inclusion of these two songs in the overall dynamic sequencing of <i>Matrimony in Madness</i> increases the cinematic value of the album.</span></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #1a1a1a; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 16px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></span></div>
<br />
<div style="background-color: white; color: #1a1a1a; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">“Muted Witness,” which finishes the album, happens to be just as engaging as its preceding pieces: a short encapsulation of each of the ideas explored during the songs that preceded it Each song on <i>Matrimony in Madness</i> moves into the next to establish a sense of completeness.</span></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #1a1a1a; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span></div>

<span lang="EN-US"><span style="font-family: inherit;">It was a lot of fun for me. I am really into this entire thing. Composing, writing lyrics and recording. I love to create music and materialize my ideas. I am also a bit of a „studio nerd” and I like to experiment with new recording equipment, methods and settings. For me it’s all about the process. Having joy while working on the song. Releasing it at the end and sharing it with people is just an additional bonus.</span></span></div>

For now I plan to work on songs one by one and publish them on my Youtube channel. I am working on the third song at the moment (I am already recording it). I’ve also started to compose fourth and fifth one. When I publish sixth song I’ll release entire EP at the same time. With artwork, title, logo and all that stuff. Mostly for digital promotion. I’ll probably make only few physical copies.</span></span></div>

<span lang="EN-US"><span style="font-family: inherit;">I listen to all kinds of metal. Not only black and doom metal bands. Groups from other genres have some impact on my playing as well. I used to play electric guitar in heavy/thrash metal bands. Even with some melodic death metal influences. Something has left in my style after that for sure. I also like listening to movie soundtracks. Especially cold, minimalistic ones, from science fiction movies. I enjoy modern and industrial sounds. I like ambient and calm electronic music. Maybe it has some influence on my songs as well. In future I want to create at least one very calm, atmospheric ambient song. With no drums and vocals in far background.</span></span></div>
